Jill Brown

Born and raised in Vancouver BC, Jill Brown has been deeply influenced by the beauty of nature all her life. Years of commuting between the rugged landscapes of Whistler, the limitless horizons of Boundary Bay and through the groomed green spaces of Vancouver have created a profound interest in the interaction between nature and urban architecture and ultimately how that relationship effects us all.

Brown began her art career over a decade ago primarily in watercolours, however, over time has gravitated towards acrylics. This medium offers her the ability to create rich textured layers, critical to capturing the radiance of the richly hued west coast flowers and foliage.

Her technique of energetic brushstrokes is immediate and spontaneous and flows intuitively from a love of abstract expressionism. She reduces the magnificent panoramas to its most essential elements, leaving viewers with an indefinable emotion or feeling more than a specific image.

Her work is included in private collections throughout North America.
