Sheila Neufeld

Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Neufeld was influenced by the ‘big skies’ of the Canadian prairies at a young age, from the dramatic darkness of the daytime sky full of thunderclouds building to the Northern lights at midnight it was a constantly changing canvas of colours, textures and activity.

Neufeld moved to Vancouver, BC in the early nineties and pursued her passion for art, studying at Langara College and graduating with a Fine Arts Diploma in 2004.

Now her love of the great expansive skies and uninterrupted horizons has fused with a deep connection to the tranquil beauty of nature here on the west coast. Neufeld’s canvases contain a space of soft light that radiates from the centre of the composition creating a tranquil luminosity in an effort to provoke emotion recollected in tranquility.

Neufeld’s process involves building texture and depth using multiple translucent layers of acrylics and oil.

Her work is included in private and corporate collections throughout Canada.
